Bray Head Cliff Walk
Bray Head is a hill that is 241 meter high and located in Wicklow south from Dublin. We took the 155 bus from IKEA and drove all the way down. The bus trip alone was about an hour and a half, but it is definitely worth the wait. The view you get there is amazing. You will see a beach and the hill with a cross on it. The local takeaways offered fish and chips en masse. Our plan was to just climb up the hill, but we took the wrong turn and ended up in the middle of the cliff walk to Greystone, a small city behind Bray Head. It was also nice, as I was able to see wild Cormorants. The view along the coast was beautiful, as was the weather. After an hour and a half of walking we arrived in Greystone. There are some nice bars and restaurants, but since our actual plan was to climb up Bray Head we took the train back to Bray, which only took 9 minutes. Luckily we were able to use our Leapcard. After a little refreshment at Tescos and being betrayed by my eyes in Google Maps, we found ourselfs in the private property of a farmer. As I saw a hole in the fence, I assumed we are not the first tourists who got lost. So we went over the fence and fought ourselfs through the wilderness of Bray Head and arrived at the actual hiking path for people who want to climb up the hill. The last steps towards the summit were really exhausting. We took several breaks and the air got thinner the higher we went. In the end we made it and rewarded ourselfs with the amazing view the hill offered. If you interested in botanics you can see a difference between the dandelions at the top and the ones you usually see in Europe at the roadside. We walked 16 km that day and with my daily trip to work I managed about 77 km that week!
