Arrival in Dublin
June 15th, 2019 – 35 degree Celsius in Berlin and I am running to get my flight on time, but as I saw the depature table, I realized it was for nothing. My flight got delayed by an hour and I looked for a seat to cool down.
Two hours later I was finally in the air. The passengers around me ordered overpriced sandwiches and red wine. I can not imagine myself throwing out money like that for a two hour flight. Luckily I had my seat at the window. When I look out of it I can see the blue sea and the coast of Ireland we were flying along.
After the landing I still had insane pressure on my ears. It was like as if somebody used a remote control to turn down the volume of my surroundings by a large amount. When I arrived at the baggage claim another student from the OSZIMT-Erasmus program has a nice chat with me. He was not joining me in Dublin though. As I left the airport I looked for a specific busline, as it is cheaper than a taxi. A fellow student arrived a few hours earlier and payed 16€, but the bus fare is just 3.30€. After 10 min I got out and walked the rest while pulling my two suitcases behind me. At 11 p.m. I finally arrived. My flat mate gave me the keys and showed me around.
On the next day I went grocery shopping at the LIDL nearby and walked to my internship placement to see how long it takes without using public transportation. There is no busline that would take me their directly. So the recommended route would drive detours. So I could decide between taking several buslines with fare costs a 40 minutes or just walk for free for 55 minutes straight. I will find out which is more fitting in the next days.
